One down, a few more to go...

Ta-da! Our Advent Calendar is finally finished! OK, so its a few days late, but the kids won't care.

I'm quite pleased with the project. It has loads of mistakes (LOL!). But if you don't make mistakes along the way, you don't learn, right? Now, I'm a little less anxious about quilting DX's OHGW quilt and my daughter's quilt. Thinking about the bindings for the quilts still gives me willies, though. My whipstitching on the back of the Advent calendar binding is terrible. If there are any seasoned quilters with advice about that, I'd be pleased to hear it.

DX is doing better and better each day. Today, one week post-surgery, I'd say that he's almost totally back to himself. No Tempra needed at all since yesterday, in fact. It's amazing how quickly kids' bodies heal.
And here's something I realized today- he is *singing* all the time the past few days. He didn't do much of that before his surgery, at least not that I can recall. He sings the theme to The Backyardigans and to Thomas & Friends, and he sings songs that we learned at the weekly playgroup we've been going to since September (he's never sang while we're there). Of course, the words are not clear yet, but he's got the tunes down pat and he "gives 'er at the top of his lungs", as we'd say.

Maybe he's realized that his voice sounds different? Maybe singing is easier now with his palate closed? Whatever the reason, he's letting loose. And, yes, it is a joyous sound!

What is it about singing that connotes and creates such joy? Glad he's coming along. I'm very impressed by your calendar - I've accepted that I'm not a sew-er and am always in awe of those who persevere.

Go DX!

You did a wonderful job on the calendar. I am not a quilter so no advice, but I think you're doing great!
